Overview

Introduced in 2007, the MSc in Artificial Intelligence was the first postgraduate programme in Artificial Intelligence in Sri Lanka, and remains a pioneering route for graduates and practitioners seeking to specialize in AI and deploy intelligent systems in real-world settings.

Teaching is delivered online on weekends, so fresh graduates, working professionals and researchers can study without stepping away from their careers. The curriculum runs from the essentials of AI through to generative AI, machine learning, deep learning, cognitive systems and responsible AI, taught alongside hands-on industry case studies. A guided project in the final stage lets candidates apply AI techniques to a problem of their own choosing.

Graduates are prepared for advanced roles in machine learning engineering, data science leadership and AI research within industry or academia, joining a strong pipeline of AI talent the Department of Computational Mathematics has developed since 2007.
